This study explores the rich tradition of folk songs and music in Alwar as vital
expressions of its cultural identity. It examines how these oral and musical traditions
reflect the social structure, beliefs, customs, and everyday life of the local communities.
The paper highlights various genres of folk songs such as those related to festivals,
rituals, marriage, and agrarian life and analyses their thematic and symbolic
significance. It also considers the role of folk music in preserving collective memory
and transmitting cultural values across generations. Furthermore, the study addresses
the impact of modernization on these traditions and emphasizes the need for their
preservation as an essential component of intangible cultural heritage.
