These systems, including wells, stepwells, rainwater harvesting structures, ponds, check dams, and canal systems, were ingeniously designed to suit local environmental conditions and societal needs. The relevance of traditional water management systems in modern times is significant, particularly in addressing water scarcity and promoting sustainable agriculture in rural areas. These systems are cost-effective, environmentally sustainable, and enhance community participation. They also preserve local knowledge and cultural heritage. However, challenges such as neglect, modernization, and policy issues threaten their preservation and effectiveness.
